AMANDA PENROSE HART

PURPLE VAN

Medium: oil on canvas

Size: 95 x 185cm

Judge’s Comment:

Amanda paints her studio and the landscape surrounding her studio. Her works are simple but beautiful. It’s quite a large work... and would be striking.

PEOPLE CHOICE

ALEXANDRA MATTHEWS

FORBIDDEN CITY

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Size: 80 x 156cm

HIGHLY COMMENDED

LISA CHRISTENSEN

CRIMSON ROSELLA WITH NATIVE AUSTRALIAN FLORA

Judge’s Comment:

Lisa is a highly skilled painter. Her current artworks explore environmental themes. This is a decorative work at first view.... but a bit dark on closer inspection. Brett recommends.

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Size: 76 x 76cm

MICHELLE CAITENS

SEA GLASS

Judge’s Comment:

Michelle is a hyperreal painter. It's a well executed work. She usually paints animals and botanicals so this is a bit different for her.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Size: 60 x 90cm

SCOTT MCDOUGALL

INFERNO - CANE BURN, MURWILLUMBAH NSW

Judge’s Comment:

Scott McDougall has a CV long as your arm. He used to be an art teacher in Brisbane. He’s shown in this prize quite a few times. He's been involved with the Tattersalls, The Border Prize, The Wynne Prize, all the big landscape awards. It’s a stunning work, however it is oversized. It’s 2 metres by 2 metres. So that’s something to consider.

Judge’s Comment:

Over the allowable limit
