About the Artist

A Brief History

Well known for his work as a comedian and broadcaster, Peter Berner is also a graduate of the National Art School who has exhibited his artworks across the world. Known primarily for his portraits and figurative paintings, he has been shortlisted three times in the prestigious Archibald Portrait Prize, Art Gallery of NSW. Berner’s style is raw and immediate, with compositions dominated by large scale heads and figures simmering with psychological intensity. Working in oils, pastel, crayon and pencil, Berner wrestles his subjects into being on the plywood panels he prefers to work with.
